Leatherface is a central antagonist in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film franchise. He first appeared in the 1974 film of the same name.
Leatherface is characterized by his imposing size, mask made of human skin, and signature weapon: a chainsaw. He is generally depicted as mentally impaired and easily manipulated by his family, who are also cannibalistic killers.
Often referred to as "Chainsaw Dude," Leatherface's motivations are usually rooted in protecting his family and their way of life. While brutal and terrifying, he is often portrayed as a victim of his environment and upbringing.
